5 Things You Should Have in the Morning to Feel Energized

It doesn't matter what time I go to bed or how much I exercise in the morning, somehow, someway, I have trouble fully waking up. Of course, exercising in the morning is one of the best remedies for sleepiness but that never quite does the job for me. When I go into work I want to be fully energized and ready to go! I know I'm not the only one in this position and that is why I am here to tell you that there are many foods that you can consume to make yourself feel healthier and more energetic. I am going to give you my top 5 most foods that will give you that extra boost in the morning.

Water

Does it really come as a shock that the most important resource on earth can also help you wake up faster?! It makes perfect sense if you think about it; most of us are the slightest bit dehydrated when we wake up because of the long period without drinking any liquids. Drinking water in the morning reenergizes and rehydrates your body for a better start to your morning.

One tip I can give you to stay hydrated is to carry a reusable water bottle. It doesn’t matter where I am going, I never leave my house without my water bottle even if I must leave it in the car. Try to get used to making this a habit!

Oatmeal

I love oatmeal but I know that isn’t the case for many! If you don’t care for the taste I recommend adding honey and a few berries to give it a little kick. Yes, oatmeal is a carb. No, it is not bad to eat it in the morning. Unlike pancakes and waffles, oatmeal is a complex carb which makes it better for your sugar levels. If you are looking for something to eat that will hold you over until lunch, this is it!

Chia Seeds

These little things are way underrated. I put them in my water, smoothies, pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt and pretty much everything I eat! They taste like nothing and just add a tiny crunch to your food. If you're worried about adding them to your drink, don’t be, you can’t taste them. I would say chia seeds are the most noticeable when drinking water but even then, they are not bothersome at all.

 According to Web MD, Chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, protein and calcium. Just 2 tablespoons provides as much omega-3 fatty acids as 4 ounces of salmon and 30 percent of the daily recommended fiber intake. Saying chia seeds are energizing is an understatement!

Eggs

I have heard from a handful of people that eggs are bad for you. In disbelief, I did research and found that it is simply not true. Eggs are great for you. The yolk in an egg is jam packed with protein and iron which gives you energy throughout the day. Have you ever seen someone drink an egg straight out of the shell?! I mostly see guys that workout often do this, but that is because it aids in making your body muscular and charged. So, fill your plate up with eggs, eggs, and eggs.

Apples

You know what they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” But you probably have never heard that an apple a day keeps the sleepiness away! Apples have 13 grams of natural sugar making them a much better source for energy than coffee. Unlike coffee, there is no crash factor when you eat an apple. Next time you have an early obligation, be sure to grab an apple on your way out.
